Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Luminas (the “Service”), available at luminas.cc and through our iOS app, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

We have written these terms in plain language because we believe you should be able to understand the rules you are agreeing to. If anything is unclear, please reach out to us at support@luminas.cc.

2. Description of Service

Luminas is a personalized astrology application that uses your birth chart data to generate daily readings, natal chart analysis, compatibility insights, transit tracking, and educational astrology content. Our readings are powered by artificial intelligence (Anthropic’s Claude API) and customized to your unique astrological profile.

The Service includes:

  • Personalized daily cosmic readings
  • Natal chart calculation and interpretation
  • Compatibility and synastry analysis
  • Planetary transit tracking and alerts
  • Educational astrology content
  • Premium features available through subscription or one-time purchases

3. Eligibility and Account Registration

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

To use Luminas, you must create an account using email and password, Google OAuth, or Apple Sign In. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate birth data (date, time, and location of birth), as this information is essential for generating your astrological readings
  • Keep your account credentials secure and not share them with others
  • Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Each individual may maintain only one account.

4. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

This is important, so we want to be completely transparent:

  • Astrology is not a science. The readings and interpretations provided by Luminas are based on astrological traditions and should be understood within that context.
  • Readings are for entertainment and self-reflection only. They are not a substitute for professional medical, financial, psychological, legal, or any other professional advice. If you are experiencing a crisis or need professional help, please consult a qualified professional.
  • AI content may contain inaccuracies. Our readings are generated by artificial intelligence. While we strive for quality and thoughtfulness, AI-generated content can be imperfect, and interpretations should not be taken as absolute truth.
  • Do not make major life decisions based solely on astrological readings. The stars illuminate possibilities, not certainties. Use the insights as one perspective among many.
  • You assume the risk. By using the Service, you accept all risk associated with your use of, reliance on, or interpretation of any content provided. Luminas is not responsible for any actions you take, or fail to take, based on readings or AI-generated content. If AI-generated content produces unexpected or inaccurate output, your sole remedy is to discontinue use of the Service.

Content Ownership

AI-generated readings created for you are licensed for personal, non-commercial use. You may save, screenshot, or share your readings. You may not reproduce, republish, or commercially distribute AI-generated content at scale. We retain the right to use aggregated, anonymized patterns from content generation to improve the Service.

5. Subscriptions and Purchases

Free Trial

New users may be eligible for a 7-day free trial of the full Service. The free trial begins when you confirm your subscription through the App Store. You will not be charged during the trial period. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription at the applicable rate. Trial eligibility is determined by Apple and is generally limited to one trial per Apple ID.

Premium Subscription

Luminas offers monthly and annual subscription plans. Subscription pricing is displayed in the app and on the App Store at the time of purchase. Prices may vary by region and are subject to change.

One-Time Purchases

We also offer one-time purchase products, including the Compatibility Deep Dive, Year Ahead Report, and Gift a Birth Chart. These are permanent unlocks or consumable products as described at the time of purchase.

Auto-Renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can cancel your subscription at any time:

  • iOS: Through your Apple ID subscription settings
  • Web: Through your account settings or by contacting us at support@luminas.cc

Refunds

Refunds for iOS purchases are handled by Apple in accordance with their refund policies. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com. Refunds for web purchases made through Stripe can be requested by contacting us at support@luminas.cc. We handle refund requests on a case-by-case basis in accordance with applicable law.

Pricing Changes

We may change our pricing from time to time. If we increase the price of your subscription, we will provide advance notice and give you the opportunity to cancel before the new price takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.

6. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these terms
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its systems
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract data from the Service
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
  • Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features of the Service
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or place an unreasonable load on our infrastructure
  • Share your account with others or create multiple accounts to circumvent limits
  • Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Service or its content without permission
  • Exceed rate limits or make excessive API requests
  • Attempt to bypass subscription or payment requirements

7. User Content

You retain ownership of content you create within the Service, including journal entries and questions you submit. By submitting content, you grant us a limited license to store it on our servers to provide the Service and to process your questions through our AI system to generate answers.

You agree not to submit content that:

  • Is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable
  • Infringes on any intellectual property rights of third parties
  • Contains malicious code, scripts, or attempts at prompt injection
  • Is designed to manipulate or exploit the AI system

We reserve the right to remove content that violates these restrictions.

8. Intellectual Property

The Luminas app, its design, code, branding, educational content, astrological interpretation frameworks, and underlying technology are owned by Luminas and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service without written permission.

If you provide us with feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service, you grant us an unrestricted, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use, implement, and incorporate that feedback without obligation to you.

9. Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time through your profile settings. When you delete your account:

  • All your personal data, birth chart information, readings, journal entries, compatibility data, reports, and purchase records will be permanently removed from our systems
  • Your subscription will not be automatically canceled — you must cancel your subscription separately through your Apple ID settings or payment provider before deleting your account to avoid future charges
  • Data held by third-party payment processors (Apple, Stripe, RevenueCat) is subject to their respective retention policies
  • This action is irreversible — your data cannot be recovered after deletion

10. Privacy

Your privacy matters to us. Our collection and use of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms. By using Luminas, you agree to our collection and use of data as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party services including Apple (App Store, Sign In, Push Notifications), Google (Sign In), Stripe (payments), RevenueCat (subscription management), Supabase (database and authentication), Anthropic (AI content generation), and Resend (email). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies.

We are not responsible for the practices, content, or availability of third-party services.

12. Service Availability

We strive to maintain the Service’s availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to:

  • Scheduled or unscheduled maintenance
  • Server outages or technical issues
  • Force majeure events
  • Third-party service disruptions (including AI provider outages, payment processor downtime, or push notification service interruptions)

AI Service Dependency

The Service relies on third-party artificial intelligence providers to generate personalized content. If our AI provider experiences downtime, capacity limitations, or discontinues service, some or all personalized content features may be temporarily or permanently unavailable. We are not liable for any loss or inconvenience resulting from AI provider unavailability, and no refunds will be issued solely due to temporary service disruptions.

Modifications

We reserve the right to modify, update, or discontinue any feature of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of significant changes.

13. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
  • The astrological content will be accurate, reliable, or suitable for any particular purpose
  • AI-generated content will be free from errors, biases, or inconsistencies
  • Defects in the Service will be corrected

Astrological content is provided for entertainment and personal reflection only. You should not make important life decisions based solely on astrological readings.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Luminas and its owners, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.

This includes damages resulting from:

  • Your use of or inability to use the Service
  • Any decisions made or actions taken based on AI-generated readings or astrological content
  • Unauthorized access to or alteration of your account or data
  • Any interruption or cessation of the Service, including unavailability caused by third-party AI provider outages, payment processor downtime, or push notification service disruptions
  • Any bugs, errors, or inaccuracies in content

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Luminas and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or in connection with:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any rights of a third party
  • Any content you submit through the Service

16. Modifications to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice in the app. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

We will always keep the current version of these Terms available at this page.

17. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive behavior, or use the Service in a way that could harm other users or our systems. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before taking such action, except in cases requiring immediate action to protect the Service or its users.

You may also terminate your relationship with us at any time by deleting your account.

18. Compatibility Partner Data

When you add compatibility partners, you provide another person’s birth information (name, birth date, birth time, and birth location). By submitting this data, you represent that you have the knowledge and, where applicable, the consent of the individual whose information you are providing. Partner data is stored in your account and will be deleted when you remove the partner or delete your account.

19. Apple-Specific Terms

If you access the Service through an Apple device, the following additional terms apply:

  • These Terms are between you and Luminas, not Apple. Luminas, not Apple, is solely responsible for the Service and its content.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the Service.
  • In the event of any failure of the Service to conform to applicable warranties, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the Service.
  • Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the Service, including product liability, consumer protection, or intellectual property claims.
  • In the event of any third-party claim that the Service infringes a third party’s intellectual property rights, Luminas, not Apple, will be solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of such claim.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Upon your acceptance, Apple will have the right to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.

20. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Arbitration shall take place in California.

Class action waiver: You agree to resolve disputes with us on an individual basis and waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.

Small claims exception: Either party may bring claims in small claims court if the claims qualify.

21. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

22. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Luminas regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements or understandings.
